23. 『GoogleとYahooの強行改革』
ごぶさたしています、145BPMの閃き系クリエイターの村谷です。今回は長いので早速内容に移らせていただきます。
ご存じの方もいらっしゃるかと思いますが、この夏、GoogleとYahoo Japan！が検索アルゴリズムを大きく改変するという動きを見せました。これによる検索順位の変動は非常に大きなことになるでしょう。GoogleとYahoo Japan！はそれぞれどのようなアルゴリズムの改変を行ったのか簡単に解説してみたいと思います。
Googleは、ホームページのスパム行為を取り締まる範囲を拡大しました。つまり、今までは見逃されていたスパム行為（ペナルティ行為）も罰則を受けることとなり、より悪質なサイトを検索順位下位に落とすことが目的です。一見すると、アダルトサイトのようなサイトが順位を下げ、その分企業サイトなどが上位に表示されると捉えられそうです。しかし、今回の改変はWebの基本的な構造で記述されていないサイトの順位を下げるというものであり、ともするとホームページビルダーなどを使ってInternet Explorerだけの表示を考えて作ったサイトは、たとえその内容が悪質なものでなかったとしても順位を下げられるということが起こりえるのです。これははっきり言って、初心者泣かせな改変をGoogleは強行しました。ホームページ記述のちゃんとしたルールを知らずにビルダーなどでとりあえず制作し、うろ覚えのSEOでサイトを検索に引っかかるように細工をすると、今のGoogleではペナルティを受けることとなります。この夏、「Googleでの検索順位が下がった」という方は一度ホームページの構造を専門業者に見てもらうのがよいかもしれません。ちなみに、Googleは企業サイトよりも情報サイトを検索上位に表示するアルゴリズムを持っています。これとあわせて今後のホームページ像を検討してみてはいかがでしょうか。
Yahoo Japan！は現在はまだ従来の検索システムを使っていますが、近い将来Googleと同じであり、世界標準となっているロボット型検索を採用するということを発表しました。現在、“Yahoo!検索（ベータ）”と称して公開されているのがそれです。これは簡単に説明しますと、有料サービスであるYahooビジネスエキスプレスに登録されているサイトが優先的に表示されていた従来のYahoo検索を取りやめ、Googleのような検索表示を行うということです。どこまで具体的に決まっているのかは今後の発表を待つところですが、５万円というお金を払って優先的に表示されていたYahooビジネスエキスプレス登録サイトがその恩恵を受けなくなる確率は非常に高くなるでしょう。現時点のベータ版では登録サイトは、「登録サイトからの検索」という形で検索表示されるようですが、５万円を払ってまで登録する価値は以前より下がってしまったことは否めないでしょう。Googleと同様、Yahooの検索に対してもきちんとしたSEO対策が必要となるわけです。Yahoo Japan！がなぜこのような改変に踏み切ったのかということは今後のコラムで考えてみることとしましょう。
このようにWeb検索業界は今までの常識をひっくりがえすようなことも平気で行ってきます。まさに“昨日のプラスが今日のマイナス”ということになるため、ホームページを運営している方々は業界の情報にはできるだけ目を向け、それに伴ったサイトの改良を柔軟に行っていく必要があるでしょう。それでは長くなりましたが、今回のコラムはこのへんで。失礼いたします。
