　新しくコラムを始めることになりました。今回はより実践的なサーチエンジン対策、SEOについてできるだけ簡単に、かつ現在ホームページを自作してらっしゃる方でもすぐに自分のサイトに試すことのできる内容を、ワンステップずつご紹介していきます。
　今回は第一回目ですので、SEOがどういうものか再確認してみましょう。

　SEOは検索エンジン最適化の略称で、ホームページを運営する人なら一度は目にしたことがあるかと思います。SEOを実践してみたい、という方はインターネット上で自分のホームページが検索エンジンにヒットするということがどれだけ重要か、実感してらっしゃるでしょう。
　自分のホームページを不特定多数の人々に見てもらうには、『知りたいときにいつでも検索できるかどうか』が鍵です。それにはYahooやGoogle、 infoseek、gooなどの検索エンジンで自分のホームページが表示されなくてはなりません。検索エンジンで自分のホームページの名前を検索しても表示されないというのでは、他の人々に見てもらうことができないのは当然のことですよね。

　では、検索エンジンで自分のホームページが表示されるにはなにをすればいいのか。ひとつはお金を払って登録する。お金持ちな方はこれが一番手っ取り早く確実ですね。けれど有料登録ではない検索エンジンもたくさんあります。それに対応する方法がふたつ目、検索エンジンロボットを誘導するホームページ構造にする、それがつまりSEO対策（検索エンジン最適化）を施すということです。

　最近では私どものようなホームページ業者に委託してSEO対策を施すことも可能ですが、もっと基本的なことを徹底するだけで誰でも簡単に自分のホームページにSEO効果を持たせることができるのです。
　ワンステップずつじっくりと実践してみて下さい。効果が出るまでは時間がかかりますが、きっと以前よりも良い結果が表れるはずです。
